Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-SabahThe late Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah declared on the 11th of November, 1962, the new constitution which contains 183 items in five parts:

  • The state and the system of government
  • The basic rights of the Kuwaiti Society
  • Civil rights and obligations
  • The powers of the State
  • General and transitional provisions.

According to Article 1, Kuwait is an Arab, independent, and sovereign state. Neither its sovereignty nor any part of its territory shall be ceded. The people of Kuwait are a part of the Arab nation and the official language is Arabic (Article 3).
